A year-round, monthly meeting in which issues pertaining to psychoanalytic theory, technique, and practice will be discussed in an open forum setting. The series provides clinicians of all levels an arena in which to learn more about practicing from a psychoanalytic perspective. Each session will open with a short paper or case presentation by the leader. The group will then pursue a free form discussion aimed toward learning about the "nuts and bolts" and the "how to" of working psychoanalytically with individuals, couples, and families.

Robert Waska MFT, PhD, FIPA, a graduate of the Institute for Psychoanalytic Studies, maintains a private psychoanalytic practice for individuals and couples in San Francisco and Marin County. He is, has published over eighty articles in professional journals, and recently co-authored the new Handbook of Contemporary Psychotherapy and the soon to be published Handbook of Hate. Dr. Waska is the personal author of eight textbooks on psychoanalytic theory and technique from a modern Kleinian perspective. His work focuses on contemporary Kleinian topics including projective identification, loss, borderline and psychotic states, the practical realities of psychoanalytic practice in the modern world, and the establishment of analytic contact with difficult, hard to reach patients.
